Eye Protection from Digital Blue Light
Digital Blue Light
Whether you’re watching TV, gaming, or checking your Facebook feed on either your tablet or smartphone, these devices produce an artificial blue light that emits brighter, more bluish light than the spectrum of blue from our natural sunlight. In our generation, many of us are spending an increasing amount of time on our digital devices and many are reliant on them to complete their work or do their job.
So what’s the solution?
What are Gaming Glasses and what can they do?
As the name implies, Gaming Glasses are intended for those gaming either on or offline for an extended period of time. They are also known as Anti-Blue Light Glasses or Blue Light Blocking Glasses and they can serve as glasses for prolonged exposure to digital devices such as mentioned above. These glasses are made and designed specifically to protect your eyes from digital blue light, which in turn helps to:
- Reduce blue light glare - the lens tint could help reduce the blue light.
- Reduce digital eye strain and eye fatigue - can extend your digital time on your devices.
- Prevent eye dryness - reduced blurred visions and headaches.
- Improve sleep - blue light from digital devices holds back your body’s production of sleep-inducing melatonin.
Do the Gaming Glasses work?
As I am writing this, I am currently wearing our Blue Light Blocking Glasses from the Gaming Glasses collection and have been for the past month, and I find that it has help reduce the blue light glare thanks to it’s 35% yellow lens tint.
As I do most of my work and spend most of my time on my laptop, the amount of eye strain has reduced but not as dramatically as I’d imagine it would. Although I could increase it with a higher blue light blocking rate such as the Xiaomi Adult Anti Blue Light Protection Glasses with 40% or Xiaomi Anti Blue Light Protection Glasses Pro Version with 50%.
I am not prone to blurriness during my sessions either gaming or working, but I do get the occasional headaches but with these glasses, I see a significant improvement, especially towards my night’s sleep where I find it's easier to fall asleep with less interruptions throughout the night.
Now I don’t wear prescriptions glasses as I don’t need them (doesn’t necessarily mean I have 20-20 vision) however, there is a clip on option with Xiaomi Youpin TS Anti Blue Light Lens Clip-On which are Anti Blue Light lens that clip on top of any prescription glasses, although it is only in the mid range strength protection of 35% blocking rate.
The only downside(in my opinion) is that if you’re not used to wearing glasses like I am, it will be a bit uncomfortable at first. But with everything else, it will take some time to get the hang of it through repetitive usage.
Should you invest in a pair?
Not only will you look like a professional while looking sleek wearing these specs, but you can definitely reap those benefits of reducing those digital blue lights to enjoy extended play sessions of your favourite game or watch a binge-worthy TV show. If you are that type of person, then it may be a worthwhile investment for you to consider making.
